G20 a peaceful movement.

April 1st, 2009 — 5:13pm

For all the bad press on violent G20 protests, here are a few clips from the fringes that tell a different story:

Sanjuro

French music with the demonstrators leaving Grosvenor Square (US Embassy) in the background for Trafalgar Square.

Sax in the Park

I love this couple who were entertaining us in Grosvenor Square (US Embassy).

Bruce Kent agrees with my opening sentence on media: sensation-chasing and celebrity-driven.

UK Tech Recruiters are Behind the Curve

February 18th, 2009 — 1:43pm

A quick survey of recruitment agencies in the technology sphere (IT and telecom) shows that the power of XML has still not made a sufficient impression on most of them. Out of the 32 recruiters I looked at, nearly 2/3 offer no XML feed (e.g. RSS or Atom) for the jobs they wish to market. In an economic climate like today’s, this difference will only be amplified.

This is how they break down: Continue reading »

On Deloitte’s Media Predictions 2009

January 22nd, 2009 — 6:11pm

Having spent the morning at the London offices of Deloitte. (notice the branded full stop in green) for the launch of the annual TMT Predictions 2009, it is now time to spend the evening excavating the detail of the report with a fine trowel and brush. Present (and speaking) at the eighth year, in which Deloitte hazarded a guess as to what will be the trends in Technology, Media and Telecommunictions, were the following: Continue reading »

Light in the Bulgarian Toilet?

January 19th, 2009 — 4:44pm

After a week of media focus on the hoax EU artwork by David Cerny, it is worth mentioning a story that has gone virtually unreported since December of last year. Rather than associating Bulgaria with toilets, as in Cerny’s Entropa, this event will hopefully be fondly remembered by every European as the historic turning point in the current battle for his or her civil liberties.

NATO i Afghanistan.

January 15th, 2009 — 7:49pm

I statsministerens nyttårstale 2009 sa Stoltenberg at:

I følje Hutton forventar dei europeiske allierte at USA gjer heile jobben. Det er ikkje godt nok seier han og ber dei andre nasjonane som er i regionen å “step up to the plate“. “NATO må stå ilag. Det synest eg ikkje at NATO-medlemmane gjer idag,” seier Hutton.

Israel wastes its reputation

January 13th, 2009 — 11:30am

The Norwegian Chief of Defence Sverre Diesen thinks the Israeli war in Gaza is irrational and has a negative effect in relation to Israel’s long-term political goal.

The Norwegian Chief of Defence describes the Israel force in the war in Gaza as “military might decoupled from its political purpose”. He thinks there are three reasons for this:

La Israel Drepe

January 7th, 2009 — 3:33pm

Sympatien fordampar ettersom trykket aukar.
